PM Shehbaz Vows to Send Thousands of Pakistani Workers to Saudi Arabia for Jobs

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced plans to send thousands of skilled and semi-skilled Pakistani workers to Saudi Arabia to benefit from new employment opportunities emerging under the kingdom’s Vision 2030 development plan.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Prime Minister Youth Laptop Scheme 2025 in Islamabad, Shehbaz said Saudi Arabia has expressed a growing need for manpower in various sectors, particularly in technology and infrastructure.
“I’ll make every effort to send our talented youth to Saudi Arabia, as it requires thousands of skilled and semi-skilled workers,” the prime minister said.
Collaboration in Technology and Training
Recalling his recent visit to Saudi Arabia, Shehbaz shared that he was impressed by the kingdom’s progress in artificial intelligence and modern technology. During his meetings with Saudi officials, he was assured that training facilities would be provided free of cost to Pakistani students and professionals.
He expressed gratitude to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, praising his visionary leadership. “Sheikh Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030 is truly remarkable,” Shehbaz said. “Saudi Arabia will require thousands of workers and professionals for upcoming mega projects, including the World Expo 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2034. I want Pakistani youth to play a key role in these historic developments.”
100,000 Laptops to Empower Students
The prime minister also announced the distribution of 100,000 laptops under the new phase of the Youth Laptop Scheme, emphasizing that selection will be made purely on merit.
“Since 2011, around Rs40 to Rs50 billion have been spent on this programme,” he said. “But if it takes Rs500 billion to strengthen the education, skills, and empowerment of our youth, we will happily invest it.”
Shehbaz explained that the laptop distribution was delayed this year due to a logo controversy, but reaffirmed his government’s commitment to promoting digital literacy.
“This is the era of modern technology and artificial intelligence,” he noted. “Our mission is to equip the next generation with advanced tools and knowledge so Pakistan can become self-reliant and prosperous.”
Commitment to Youth Development
Reaffirming his dedication to education and employment, the prime minister concluded, “I promise to devote my position and my life to serving our students and securing their future.”
