Punjab Launches First-Ever Pink Van Mobile Police Station in DG Khan

DERA GHAZI KHAN, Oct 31 — In a groundbreaking move to bring policing services closer to citizens, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the province’s first Pink Van Mobile Police Station and Licensing Unit in Dera Ghazi Khan.

The initiative, inaugurated at Ghazi University, reflects the government’s vision of providing accessible and citizen-friendly services — especially designed to facilitate women, students, and residents of remote areas.

The ceremony was led by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Captain (R) Sajjad Hasan Khan, accompanied by District Police Officer (DPO) Captain (R) Tariq Walayat, District Traffic Officer DSP Irfan Ashraf, Registrar Dr. Muhammad Asif, Professor Dr. Arshad Munir, university faculty, and students.

RPO Sajjad Hasan Khan described the Pink Van as a revolutionary step in citizen-centric policing, emphasizing that it ensures easy, respectful, and secure access to police services. He noted that trained female police officers have been appointed to manage the unit, creating a safe and supportive environment for women seeking assistance.

According to DPO Tariq Walayat, the mobile police unit provides a range of services including FIR registration, issuance and renewal of driving licenses, character certificates, and other facilities normally available at Police Khidmat Centers.

Students at Ghazi University welcomed the launch, praising Punjab Police’s innovative “doorstep service model.” Many students took advantage of the opportunity by submitting on-the-spot applications for driving licenses and character certificates.

This initiative marks another step forward in Punjab’s ongoing efforts to modernize public service delivery and promote gender-inclusive governance.
