Pakistan and Afghanistan Reach 48-Hour Ceasefire to Ease Border Tensions

In a bid to calm rising tensions along the border, Pakistan and Afghanistan’s Taliban administration have agreed to a temporary 48-hour ceasefire, starting at 6:00 p.m. local time on Wednesday.

The decision follows recent cross-border clashes near Chaman, a key crossing point between the two nations that saw heavy exchanges of fire earlier this week. According to Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, both sides have committed to using dialogue to resolve the issue peacefully and prevent further escalation.
Islamabad emphasized that both countries are determined to find a lasting and positive solution to their ongoing border disputes through “sincere and constructive efforts.” The move offers a brief window for diplomacy amid heightened tensions and hopes of restoring stability along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier.
