Fuel Prices Expected to Drop by Up to Rs6 Per Litre from October 16

In a welcome relief for consumers, petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan are likely to be reduced from October 16, 2025, amid easing global crude rates and a stable local currency.
According to industry sources, petrol prices may fall by Rs6.10 per litre to Rs262.58, while high-speed diesel (HSD) could see a smaller reduction of Rs0.97 per litre to Rs275.84. Prices of kerosene oil and light diesel oil (LDO) are also expected to decrease by Rs2.75 and Rs1.64 per litre, respectively.
The adjustment is attributed to lower international oil premiums, currently at $6.62 per barrel for petrol and $3.20 for diesel, along with a steady rupee-dollar exchange rate. These factors have given the government room to pass on the benefit to the public.
Currently, consumers pay significant levies on petroleum products — Rs80.52 per litre on petrol and Rs79.51 on diesel — in addition to inland freight margins. The Ministry of Finance is set to confirm the new prices on October 15, which will come into effect nationwide from midnight on October 16.
