Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran Fined for ICC Code of Conduct Breach

Opener penalized for equipment abuse during ODI series against Bangladesh

ABU DHABI, October 15, 2025 — Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran has been fined 15% of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the third ODI against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi.

According to the ICC, Ibrahim was found guilty of violating Article 2.2, which concerns the “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings during an international match.”

The incident occurred during the 37th over of Afghanistan’s innings when Ibrahim, frustrated after his dismissal, struck equipment near the dressing room on his way back to the pavilion.

The sanction, imposed by Match Referee Graeme La Brooy of the Emirates ICC International Panel, includes one demerit point, marking Ibrahim’s first disciplinary offence within a 24-month period.

As per ICC regulations, Level 1 offences carry penalties ranging from an official reprimand to a fine of up to 50% of a player’s match fee and one or two demerit points.

Ibrahim accepted the charge and the proposed penalty, meaning no formal hearing was required.

Despite the incident, Afghanistan celebrated a 3–0 clean sweep over Bangladesh after securing a commanding 200-run victory in the final ODI
